What Is Cosmetic Dentistry?

300 214 Precision Family Dental

The goal of cosmetic dentistry is to improve the appearance of your smile. If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about your smile, it’s time to schedule an appointment with our dentist.

Dr. Piotrowski can help you explore your options for cosmetic dentistry so you can start smiling with confidence. Cosmetic dentistry can help you close slight gaps between your teeth, whiten your teeth by several shades, fix minor imperfections in your front teeth, and help improve your oral health in general.

At Precision Family Dental, we offer multiple cosmetic dental treatments, including:

Teeth Whitening

We provide two teeth whitening options: at home or in our office.

If you choose to whiten your teeth at home, our teeth whitening dentist can create a custom tray to fit the contours of your smile. We’ll also provide you with a bleaching gel that’s stronger than what you can purchase over the counter but still safe to use at home.

In our office, you can whiten your teeth by several shades in a single appointment with Zoom teeth whitening. Zoom whitening is a great option for our patients with busy schedules who want fast, noticeable results.

Teeth Bonding

Teeth bonding is a simple smile makeover that we can accomplish in a single appointment. We may recommend dental bonding if you feel self-conscious about slight chips, cracks, and stains on your front teeth.

During the procedure, we will apply a tooth-colored resin that matches the color of your natural enamel. The resin then hardens to the surface of your tooth so you can start smiling with confidence.

Inlays & Onlays

Our dentist wants to help you keep as much natural tooth structure as possible, which is why he offers inlays and onlays to patients.

A dental inlay or onlay can be a good compromise if you have a cavity that is too small for a crown and too big for a simple filling. Inlays and onlays are sometimes called “indirect fillings” because they are made in an off-site lab before we bond them to your teeth.

Porcelain Veneers and Lumineers

You may be a candidate for porcelain veneers if you would like to cover slight cosmetic damage to your front teeth. A veneer is a wafer-thin porcelain shell that our dentist bonds to the front of your tooth to cover slight chips, cracks, or discoloration.

To prepare your teeth for the veneers procedure, our dentist will need to remove a small amount of enamel from the fronts of your teeth. Otherwise, the porcelain veneers will make your teeth seem large and bulky.

If you’re worried about losing tooth enamel, we also offer Lumineers. Like veneers, Lumineers can mask small cosmetic issues, but they do not require tooth enamel removal before application. However, they’re not as effective as traditional veneers in hiding more severe stains or damage.
