5 Benefits of CEREC Same Day Crowns Dentist Grand Rapids, MI

We use CEREC to create your tooth crown in one appointment. In the past, it would take a few weeks for your dental crown to be made in an off-site lab.

Now, our dentists use CEREC to take digital impressions of your teeth and create a crown that looks and feels natural.

Continue reading to learn why our patients ask for CEREC same day crowns.

1. Digital Dental Impressions

Many people can’t tolerate pink impression putty because it triggers their gag reflex. Fortunately, our dentists use a slim hand-held device to take pictures of your teeth and gums.

Not only are digital dental impressions less invasive than trays filled with goop, but they’re more accurate. The scanner takes precise impressions so we can create a same day crown that fits perfectly over your tooth.

2. No Waiting

In the past, patients had to wait weeks for an off-site lab to create dental crowns. Fortunately, our dentists are always looking for ways to improve your experience as a patient, which is why we started using CEREC to streamline the dental crown procedure. A CEREC crown can be made in one appointment so you can leave our office smiling with confidence.

3. Highly Precise

After our dentists take impressions of your teeth, we’ll start designing your dental crown right in front of your eyes using CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) software. Once we’re satisfied with the look and fit of your CEREC crown, we’ll then send it to the milling machine in our office.

The milling machine will sculpt your new tooth crown from a block of ceramic or other tooth-colored materials. Since we’re able to create same day crowns right in our office, you’ll never have to deal with the hassle of a temporary crown ever again.

4. No Temporary Crown

At other dental offices, you’ll need to wear a temporary crown while you wait weeks for your permanent restoration to be made. Since a temporary crown must eventually be removed, a dentist can only use a weak adhesive to keep it on.

As a result, you may have experienced a temporary crown falling out or not fitting perfectly when you bit together in the past. Our dentists understand that temporary crowns are a hassle for patients, which is why we use CEREC. Since your crown is created and placed in one appointment, you can avoid the discomfort of a temporary crown.

5. Looks and Feels Natural

A CEREC crown is durable enough to last for years to come. This means that you can smile with confidence knowing that your tooth restoration looks and feels natural. It has always been our goal to help patients feel comfortable with their smiles, which is why we provide same day dental crowns.

CEREC same day crowns look just as natural as those created in a lab. Once our dentists retrieve your crown from the milling machine, they’ll check the color, shade, and fit before bonding it to your tooth. Since the digital dental impressions are highly precise, we often make little to no alterations.

6. Preserves Your Smile

A crown can either be used to replace a missing tooth or to protect a severely damaged tooth. Either way, you can maintain the look of your smile without worrying about gaps. When you have a missing tooth, the surrounding teeth will shift positions and can sometimes undo years of dental work. A dental crown preserves the spacing of the teeth you have in order to prevent the rest of your teeth from moving.

7. Safe and Sturdy Materials

Our same-day CEREC crowns are made of materials similar to that of your tooth’s natural enamel, making them a safe and effective choice for tooth restoration. These materials are even stronger in many cases than a natural tooth. If your crown does become damaged, however, we can easily repair or replace it in our office.
